Stripe Connect Setup

Fairground Music uses Stripe Connect to handle payments securely. This guide will walk you through connecting your Stripe account to start receiving payments.

Overview

Stripe Connect allows you to receive payments directly to your bank account when fans purchase your music or support you on Fairground. The setup process takes just a few minutes.

Getting Started

Step 1: Navigate to Payment Settings

  1. Open the Fairground Music app
  2. Go to your Profile
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Select Payment Settings or Connect Stripe

Step 2: Start the Connection Process

Tap the Connect with Stripe button. You'll be redirected to Stripe's secure onboarding flow.

Step 3: Complete Stripe Onboarding

Stripe will ask you to provide:

  • Email address - For your Stripe account
  • Business type - Select "Individual" (unless you have a registered company)
  • Personal details - Name, date of birth, address
  • Business details - See guidance below for musicians
  • Bank account information - Where you want to receive payouts
  • Identity verification - Government ID may be required

Guidance for Musicians

Website or Social Media URL

Stripe asks for a website address to verify your business. As a musician, you can use any of the following:

  • Your Instagram profile (e.g., instagram.com/yourname)
  • Your Spotify artist page
  • Your SoundCloud profile
  • Your YouTube channel
  • Your Bandcamp page
  • Your Facebook artist page
  • Your personal website if you have one

Business Description

If asked to describe your business, here are some examples you can adapt:

"Independent musician selling original music and recordings directly to fans through digital platforms."

"Music producer creating and selling beats, instrumentals, and audio content online."

Industry/Category

When asked to select an industry or category, choose:

  • Music (if available)
  • Entertainment
  • Digital Products
  • Media & Entertainment

Step 4: Verify Your Account

Depending on your location and payout volume, Stripe may require additional verification. This can include:

  • Uploading a photo ID (passport, driver's license)
  • Providing additional business documentation
  • Verifying your bank account with micro-deposits

Step 5: Confirmation

Once your account is connected and verified, you'll see a confirmation in the app. You're now ready to receive payments!

Payout Schedule

With Stripe Connect, your earnings are paid out directly to your bank account:

  • Availability: Funds are typically available in your Stripe balance immediately after a successful payment
  • Payout timing: Stripe automatically transfers funds to your bank account daily (or based on your settings)
  • Bank transfer time: Once initiated, payouts usually arrive in 1-2 business days depending on your bank

Managing Your Stripe Account

After connecting, you can manage your Stripe account directly through the Stripe Dashboard:

  • View transaction history
  • Update bank account details
  • Download tax documents
  • Adjust payout settings

Troubleshooting

Connection Failed

If the connection process fails:

  1. Ensure you have a stable internet connection
  2. Try again from the Payment Settings screen
  3. Contact support if the issue persists

Verification Pending

If your account is stuck in verification:

  1. Check your email for messages from Stripe
  2. Log in to your Stripe Dashboard to see if additional information is needed
  3. Verification typically completes within 1-2 business days

Payout Issues

If you're not receiving payouts:

  1. Verify your bank account is correctly linked in Stripe Dashboard
  2. Check that your account has passed all verification steps
  3. Ensure your account is in good standing
