Scenes for Users

Scenes are community-driven music spaces on Fairground, typically built around a geographic area, a music genre, or a combination of both. They serve as hubs where artists, venues, promoters, labels, and fans connect around shared musical movements.

What are Scenes?

Think of a Scene as a local music community brought to life on the platform, for example: "Manchester Indie", "London Drill", or "Bristol Bass Music".

Scene Types

  • Geographic - Based on a region or city
  • Genre - Based on a music genre
  • Geo-Genre - A combination of both (e.g. "Leeds Hip-Hop")

Discovering Scenes

The Scenes home page shows:

  • Trending Scenes - A curated carousel of active and popular Scenes
  • Your Scenes - Scenes you follow or participate in
  • Scenes Worldwide - A geographic view of Scenes across the globe
  • Most Active Scenes - Communities with the highest engagement

Following a Scene

Tap Follow on any Scene to join the community. When you follow a Scene, you can:

  • Post in the Scene's feed
  • See Scene content in your home feed
  • Get notified about new events, posts, and announcements associated with the Scene

When you follow a Scene, Scene Notifications are set to All.

You can amend notification preferences for each Scene.

To do so, navigate to Profile > Settings > Notifications: and choose between All, Important Only, or Off.

Participating in a Scene

Beyond following, artists, venues, promoters, and labels can become official participants in a Scene:

To become an official Participant

  1. Visit the Scene page
  2. Tap Request to Join
  3. Your request goes to the Scene Admins for approval
  4. Once approved, you appear in the Scene's participant listings (e.g. the Artists, Venues, or Businesses section).
  5. You will also receive a notification when a request to join is approved.

Scene Invitations

You may also receive invitations to join Scenes based on:

  • Geographic match - Your location matches the Scene's region
  • Genre match - Your music genres align with the Scene
  • Linked events - You're involved in an event tagged to the Scene

What's Inside a Scene

Each Scene page is packed with content:

  • Breaking Artists - Trending artists within the Scene
  • Fairground Radio - A playlist of music from Scene participants
  • Events - Upcoming events tagged to the Scene
  • Community - Posts from followers and participants
  • Participants - Browse by type:
  • Artists
  • Venues
  • Curators (Promoters, Labels etc.)
  • Merchandise - List of items sold by Scene participants
  • Map - An interactive map showing venues and events in the Scene
  • Featured Event - A highlighted event chosen by Scene admins
  • Featured Post - A pinned post chosen by Scene admins
