Uploading and Managing Music

How to upload and manage your music on Fairground

Before You Start

Before uploading music, make sure you have:

  1. An artist profile - Switch to your artist profile if you have multiple profiles
  2. Stripe Connect set up - Required to sell music
  3. Your audio files ready - High-quality audio files for upload
  4. Your visuals and any additional information or metadata you want to include. Remember, ISRC codes and other identifiers help artists track usage and potential royalty income.

Uploading a Track

  1. Go to your artist Profile
  2. Go to Settings > Content
  3. Tap Music
  4. Select Create Music to upload your track files (audio and cover artwork)
  5. Add track details:

Mandatory details:

  • Track name - Special characters allowed, min 1 character, no max characters
  • Cover artwork - Square image, at least 1400x1400px recommended
  • Genre - Help fans discover your music by selecting one primary and one secondary genre
  • Release date - Schedule for a future release or publish immediately

Optional Details:

  • Lyrics - Add lyrics so fans can follow along
  • Hashtags - Additional tags for discoverability
  • Metadata - add ISRC codes, writer, label, publisher details etc

Setting Your Price

Choose how you want to monetise each track:

  • Set a price - Fans pay to purchase and download this track
  • Free for True Fans - Free for your True Fans subscribers, paid for everyone else
  • Free - Available to everyone at no cost

Exclusivity Options

Make your releases special with exclusivity settings:

Exclusive Release Window

Set a period where only True Fans subscribers can access the track before it's available to everyone.

True Fans Only

Make a track permanently exclusive to your True Fans subscribers.

Credits and Ownership

Once a track is uploaded, you will be given an option to associate yourself or others as Writer, Performer or Featured Artist.

NB: Ownerships of rights will not be created automatically.

Managing Your Music

Viewing Your Uploads

  1. Go to your Artist Profile
  2. Tap Music to see all your uploaded tracks

Editing a Track

  1. Go to your Artist Profile
  2. Tap Music to see all your uploaded tracks
  3. Find the track in your music library
  4. Select Edit
  5. Update details and save

Removing a Track

  1. Go to your Artist Profile
  2. Tap Music to see all your uploaded tracks
  3. Find the track in your music library
  4. Select Delete

Deleting a track is permanent. Fans who purchased the track will retain access to their download. Fans who purchased the track but didn’t download it will lose access.

Tips for Success

  • High-quality artwork - Eye-catching cover art helps your music stand out
  • Complete metadata - Fill in all details to improve discoverability now and as the platform grows
  • Consistent releases - Regular uploads keep fans engaged
  • Promote exclusives - Use exclusive releases to grow your True Fans subscriber base

Music Catalogues

Overview

Music Catalogues let you group tracks together into Albums, EPs, or Singles. While individual tracks can exist on their own, catalogues give you a way to package and release collections of music with their own pricing, artwork, and exclusivity settings.

Catalogues vs Individual Tracks

  • Individual Track - A standalone piece of music with its own metadata, pricing, and settings
  • Catalogue - A collection that groups one or more tracks together, with its own separate pricing, cover art, and release settings that can differ from the individual tracks inside it

Catalogue Types

  • Album - A full-length release
  • EP - An extended play, typically 3-6 tracks
  • Single - A one or two track release

Creating a Catalogue

  1. Go to your Profile > Settings > Content > Albums > Create Catalogue
  2. Fill in the details:
    1. Name (required)
    2. Cover Artwork (required) - Square artwork, at least 1400x1400px recommended
    3. Music Tracks choose which previously uploaded tracks you want to include in the catalogue. You can adjust the track order using the up and down arrows.
    4. Additional Files - Attach supplementary materials:
      1. Liner notes
      2. Lyrics documents
      3. Credits
      4. Other files fans might want
    5. Release Date - Schedule a future release or publish immediately

Pricing

  • Price - Set a purchase price (requires Stripe Connect)
  • Free for True Fans - Subscribers get the catalogue for free, others pay
  • True Fans Exclusive - Only available to your True Fans subscribers
  • Exclusive Until - Set a date-limited exclusivity window where only subscribers can access the catalogue before it goes public
  • Publicly Visible - Toggle whether the catalogue appears in public listings

Tier Gating

You can set different pricing and availability rules for each of your True Fans tiers, giving higher-tier subscribers better deals or earlier access.

Managing Catalogues

From Profile > Settings > Music Catalogues:

  • View all your catalogues
  • Edit catalogue details, pricing, and track listing
  • Delete catalogues
    • From Profile > Music:
      • View all your individual tracks
      • Edit track details and metadata
      • Delete tracks (fans who purchased a track retain access to their download)
